Tasty Jams...
Well, ive had a few videos to show people recently and rather than doing it piecemeal i might as well put em all up here for you to check out. Im always gabbing on about music and i've put stuff up before here and there. Anyway, so here's a collection of stuff, some new, some not so new, but all fat and tasty.
So here you go.
Medeski, Martin and Wood (billy martin is one of my all-time favorite drummers. dude is slick) klat, jaybo told me you might like these guys.
(wait 30 secs for it to get going)
Trey Anastasio Band. this was uploaded from the first Bonnaroo dvd so the sound is excellent. One of the fattest jams ive ever heard from this guy. If phish never grabbed your goat you might like this. trey is on friggin glue. last 2 minutes or so is insanity. cuz its a tad long they had to cut off the first 4 minutes or so. starts at the jam.
Umprhey's McGee. these guys are tight as hell live. think prog rock with a dose of funk. can get spacey too, but these jams are mostly show-casing their chops. they located in chicago so peeps out there should check em out.
(after 2mins the interview is over and they get to the music, nice acoustic number)
RAQ, in the same kind of vein as umphrey's. these guys are off the hook tight. guitarist is crazy good.
Some Disco Biscuits for Casper
Sound Tribe Sector 9, electronica but with a band, ive heard the term organica used. seems to fit.
Particle is another example, little more guitar with these guys.
Percy Hill, good stuff
Now for a little change of pace.
Yonder Mountain String Band
Keller Williams
(old)
(new)
Alright. This next part is for you Jaybo. From the mouth of the Lion of Zion, His Majesty Haile Selassie I, ever living, ever loving JAH! Rastafari.
Lucky Dube
Black Uhuru
Alpha Blondy
Peter Tosh
Gregory Isaacs
Burning Spear
Steel Pulse

Good collection fist. Half the bands there I've seen live at one time or another. I actually got to see Burning Spear at Langerado last year, they've been one of my fav. roots acts for a while, so it was cool to check out.
I'm listening to the Helicopters you posted...I remember doing Fall tour 00'. It was one of the best times of my life.

Nice!...glad you liked man. i remember a friend of mine playing me a show of theirs where they were playing the anime movie Akira on a screen behind them and playing music to go along with it. trippy. yeah, biscuits are tight.
going to see the high sierra music fest was what turned me on to a lot of these bands. such a wealth of music all in one spot covering all kinds of genres. MMW did a fat late night show when i was there last. played til like 4am, crazy.
i was just amazed at what people threw up on youtube. such good stuff. though you do have to sift through a lot of low quality crap. there was loads more i was thinking of posting but didnt want to overload.

haha, the Akira Jam. It was NYE 1999, at the TLA with maybe 800 ppl in attendance. It was my 5th biscuit show and one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Figured I'd keep this thread going with some more good stuff...
Indobox - Massechusetts Good Times band, I think they were originally called Moonbox and switched it up at some point.
Lotus -
The Ally - these guys are extinct now, but were cool while they lasted.
Pooda Brown - you don't go into Philly without this guys consent...

oh man.....those are really nice. Lotus was a name i'd been hearing around recently but had never gotten the chance to give them a listen. the guy on the vibes was choice. they definitely got a nice sound.
and indobox, wow, never heard of them but they jam, and the first cut was completely different from the second, nice range and spanning of genres.
Hehe, pooda was....not really my thing. he's alright i guess. as to the kind of hip hop i like there was a post i made to epon recently that had some groups i really like. Groups like The Blue Scholars
, Jurassic 5
(these guys are tight), and Michael Franti and Spearhead, Stay Human which they released in like...02 or 03 is awesome.
and
So yeah man, keep it coming, good stuff.
and yeah, burning spear is teh good.

haha, the Pooda Brown was a joke...I think the guy had hired the videographer to do some videos for him.
In all seriousness, check these out. These are both songs from the Deltron 3030 album which is genius. The entire album takes place in the future, its like listening to a SciFi....album.
I guess the same artist that does the videos for Gorillaz did these for him.
Lets not forget the master of disaster...MF Doom. I'm not sure that the guy has ever been seen with his mask off....
Jurassic 5 is really good...I've never really gotten into them, but I've heard some of their stuff and it was always cool.
Man, I had never heard of Blue Scholars, but yeah wow, they got their shit together as well...very chill.
